Workplace Safety and Health

Through the combined efforts of the Tony Mazzocchi Center for Health, Safety, and Environmental Education (TMC) and United Steelworkers (USW), the Labor Institute works hand in hand with the Communications Workers of America (CWA), the National Day Laborers Network and Make The Road to raise the level of Health & Safety activism by:

1 – implenting worker education train-the-trainer programs by the National Institute of Environmental Health Science Worker Education Training Program and New York State Hazard Abatement Board
2 – sharing H&S resources and expertise between the USW, CWA, Labor Institute, NDLON, and Make The Road
3 – instructing CWA rank & file members using the most up to date Health & Safety methodology
4 – strengthening existing links between trade union and worker center activists
5 – creating new links between H&S activists from organizations nationwide
6 – linking all H&S campaign efforts to movements in Labor Rights, Education, Real Finance Reform, Real Universal Health Care, as well as exploring new avenues for cultural-political communication across communities
